Nomsebenzi Tsotsobe

I was fortunate enough to be asked to exhibit some work at the Nike Be True concept store in Melville. The launch was last night and there was some amazing work there. For my project, I wanted to do some portraits of Nomsebenzi Tsotsobe (The SA Womans Rugby Captain), the series of three images explores the 'taboo' of a black female in a traditionally white male (Afrikaner dominated) role. But taboo's in a broader sense as well. Nomsebenzi was amazing to work with and I really appreciate the opportunity to shoot this. Here they are.

Bliss

Save Polaroid

Polaroid are planning to close down production on their legendary instant film, with the right support, hopefully another film manufacturer like Ilford or Fuji can take over production of this magical film. Into The Wild & Bryan Schutmaat

I saw Into The Wild (Sean Penn) the other day and since I did I can't help feeling like hitting the road. It's weird, everything I see makes me think of the movie! Today, I found a photographer by the name of Bryan Schutmaat and his work is amazing. Some of it reminds me of Alec Soth. There's something really pure about his stuff... Go check it out and watch the movie and listen to Pearl Jam, like hippies do.

Of Beasts & B-Grade

This is another advertising job I did for Mini. We had this really dodgy b-grade Tokyo made and got an old 'original' Godzilla brought in from overseas. It's comprised of two photographs, one of the set and everything in it and then the people were comped in afterwards. We made fire, set fire alarms off and got off our faces on smoke machine fragrances! It was to advertise the new Mini with brighter Xenon headlights. I think it won Ad of the month last November, it was a lot of fun. There are some other 'ad' jobs for Wrigleys, Loeries and First For Woman that I can post once they see the light of day (advertising etiquette i'm afraid!)

These are a few from a fishing trip this weekend. It was awesome to do some fishing again, we caught about 50 odd fish between us and I got a 6.5 kg beauty! Go fishing! Stywe Lyne.
